As per tradition, in a budget session of parliament, the rail budget is presented by the railway minister in the house. Rail budget is important because railways is an integrated part of the lives of Indians and associated with every individual. Rail budget also gives a glimpse of the existing political situation and also the general budget which is set to come next.
This year an interim rail budget is presented because this is election year and general elections will be held in this year. There are always long ongoing discussions about the rail budget and the general budget as they are presented. This year the discussions are less because this budget is interim budget.
